The 2008 Clinic Schedule is now posted. Volunteer selection is NOT made on a first-come basis. Please take some time to review the information on the Schedule page, Trip Details and Volunteer Requirements sections of the website BEFORE submitting an application as there are some changes to be aware this year. Changes to look for in 2008: Trip Length: Several trips will be extended by one or two clinic days to provide vaccine outreach services. These services may involve stationary vaccine clinics or ‘door-to-door’ neighborhood outreach. Clinic Services: Services will be further tailored to meet the needs of individual communities. In some communities this will include a focus on vaccination and basic medical care. Others will focus on spay/neuter. Most clinics will continue to include a fairly even balance of both, but expect some changes in clinic logistics and assignments. Equine Services: New training requirements will be in place for students interested in equine services work. Equine teams will be selected at the start of each trip based on prior experience and a written test on RAVS equine protocols (updated materials to be posted online in the coming weeks). (Please see specific notes for the Fort Berthold Equine Extension clinic on the View Details link for the trip.)
| 10/16/07 | . |
Training Updates: Volunteer training materials will be updated this year to reflect changes in clinic protocols and additional surgery and equine materials. Also included will be updated practical skills assessment criteria. We will be working on these updates over the next several months (hopefully to be complete by January). All volunteers on trips in 2008 will be responsible for this new material. Check back here for updates as materials are added/updated.
